Every now and then, a project comes along that truly lets your imagination run wild — and this styled shoot at The Mount Without in Bristol was exactly that.
Organised and styled by the incredibly talented Becky from R&R Weddings & Events, and captured through the hauntingly beautiful lens of Mary W-Thomas Photography, this shoot embraced a darkly romantic, gothic aesthetic, with a twist of mysticism and fortune-telling magic.

The venue itself — The Mount Without — set the perfect tone. Its dramatic architecture and textured interiors created an atmospheric backdrop for a concept that blended ethereal beauty with deep symbolism. Think soft, flowing fabrics in rich jewel tones, flickering candles, and tarot cards resting beside red velvet details.

Designing the Stationery Suite
When I was invited to design the stationery for this shoot, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to dig into some of my favourite themes: rich colour palettes, ornate symbolism, and a hint of the esoteric.
The suite was designed around a palette of deep blues and blood reds, echoing both the romance and the drama of the concept. I drew inspiration from traditional tarot card illustrations, incorporating intricate linework, celestial motifs, and moody textures throughout the invitation and detail cards.
One of my favourite elements was the personalised miniature tarot card place cards created for each setting — a tiny touch that felt intimate, mysterious, and utterly unique. Each card was custom-designed to reflect both the theme and the individual guest’s name, adding a personal fortune-teller’s twist to the tablescape.
